Our Part 3 Large Buildings Classification and Construction course is a detailed technical course. This building code course focuses on large building classification and construction as outlined within Division B Part 3 of the Ontario Building Code. The curriculum covers separation of major occupancies; building area and height; streets, building size, and construction; occupant load; fire separations and fire-resistance ratings; firewalls; closures; fire stopping; provisions for firefighting; and mezzanines and interconnected floor spaces.

This course has been recognized by the Canadian Construction Association (CCA) as Gold Seal accredited training with CCA credit value.

Prerequisites

You must have a general understanding of the building construction process and basic blueprint reading skills.

Course Essentials:

You must have a copy of the 2012 Building Code Compendium before you begin this course. The compendium is available for purchase through the George Brown College bookstore, at our Building Code and Trade Manuals website, and at the Publications Ontario website.
