Tea Foundations HOSF 9391
Our Tea Foundations course provides an introduction to all aspects of tea. Gain a basic knowledge of the botany and taxonomy of the tea plant, and learn to define and identify the species and sub-species that are useful for the production of tea. Also explore tea chemistry (from fresh leaf to finished tea), and consider the key steps in tea manufacture and processing. This introduction to tea course studies the terroirs and general characteristics of tea types from various regions, and considers how climate change is affecting terroirs. In addition to learning about the history of tea and tea ceremonies, practice using sensory evaluation methods to prepare, taste, and appreciate each type.
