Dental Radiography: HARP-approved Certification DENT 9282
Our Dental Radiography: HARP-approved Certification course is intended for those with a dental background – that is, employed in a dental practice in Ontario or a graduate of a dental office administration program or an internationally trained dental professional – who wish to be qualified to meet the requirements of the Healing Arts Radiation Protection (HARP) Act. This radiography course studies the theoretical, legal, and practical applications involved in the exposure, processing, and handling of dental radiographs. Practice various intra-oral radiographic techniques to produce radiographs of diagnostic value while learning to follow radiation safety protocol and processing procedures. Also learn how to identify normal radiographic landmarks and how to recognize and solve faulty radiographs. Focus on standard intraoral radiographic techniques, radiation hygiene measures, and provincial and federal regulations as well as client management.
Passing this course means you have met all the requirements set out by the HARP Act and are qualified to operate an x-ray machine in the province of Ontario. It also earns you a George Brown College certificate of course completion.
Note(s)
This course is not designed to help individuals without dental employment experience enter the industry. You need to already be employed in a dental practice in Ontario or a graduate of a dental office administration program or an internationally trained dental professional in order to benefit from the HARP Certification. For more information on dental radiographs, visit the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario website.
Prerequisites
You must have completed our DENT 9271 Dental Anatomy (Online) course or our EX 9010 Dental Anatomy Challenge Exam (Online). If you have not met the prerequisite requirement by the first class, you will be withdrawn from the course.
